Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas popularly known in the media as Ashanti was born on October 13, 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a US singer and songwriter. Ashanti became famous as an teen. In 2002, she was signed to Murder Inc. Records. The same year, she was featured in The Fat Joe's What's Luv? The song "What's love?" by Fat Joe and Ja Rule's song "Always on Time were both huge hits. When she had Foolish and What's Luv as the top two songs and her first number one hit, she was the only woman to record two songs in the Billboard Hot 100 chart top Ten in the United States.
